ADAPTATION s’inspire du Rapport à une académie de Franz Kafka et de la vie de Kaspar Hauser.

Dans ce diptyque, les deux histoires se développent simultanément et les deux protagonistes sont transposés dans le contexte social actuel. On voit apparaître un singe humain, civilisé, qui s’est fait sa place au sein de la société, et un jeune sauvage, qui n’est qu’au début de son intégration.

Jusqu’où faut-il s’adapter aux demandes très différentes d’une société qui aime parler de liberté et qui déclare être fière de cette valeur fondamentale? A-t-on le choix? Y a-t-il, dans ce processus d’éducation, d’adaptation à l’environnement, une place pour la liberté, pour une individualité, une identité? Entourés et influencés par une certaine idéologie, les protagonistes sont à la recherche d’un équilibre fragile entre adaptation et autonomie. Ils sont confrontés au dilemme entre le bien et les maux de leur société. Et s’ils se posaient la question du sens de la vie…

ADAPTATION draws its inspiration from A Report to an Academy by Franz Kafka and from the life of Kaspar Hauser.

In this diptych, the two stories develop at the same time and the two protagonists are transposed into the current social context. A human, civilised monkey that has found its niche within society appears on the scene, together with a young savage, who has only just started his own integration.

To what extent should we adjust to the extremely diverse demands of a society that loves to talk about freedom and states its pride in this essential value? Do we have a choice? Is there, in this educational process, in this environmental adaptation, a place for freedom, for one’s individuality, for an identity? Surrounded and influenced by a certain kind of ideology, the protagonists are looking for a frail balance between adaptation and autonomy. They have to face the dilemma between good and evil in their society. And what if they questioned the meaning of life…?
